🌊 Blue Flag 2026: Nardò once again among Puglia’s finest coastal destinations!
What a source of pride for our city! 💙 Nardò is once again among the 27 locations in Puglia awarded the Blue Flag 2026 by the Foundation for Environmental Education — a prestigious recognition that rewards water quality, environmental management, sustainable mobility, and visitor services.
This achievement perfectly reflects the beauty and care of our Ionian coastline, home to some truly outstanding seaside resorts:
🏖️ Santa Caterina – the liveliest and most popular of Nardò’s marinas, featuring rocky coves, crystal-clear waters, and a wide choice of seafront cafés and restaurants.
🌿 Porto Selvaggio – an unspoilt natural haven, with centuries-old pine forests, hidden coves, and crystal-clear waters within the Regional Natural Park.
⚓ Santa Maria al Bagno – a charming seaside village with authentic character, rich maritime traditions, and the moving Museum of Memory.
🐚 Sant’Isidoro – a small gem on the Ionian coast, boasting fine sandy coves and transparent waters, on the edge of the Porto Cesareo Marine Protected Area.
🏰 Torre Squillace – an almost untouched stretch of coastline surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and rugged shores, dominated by a 16th-century watchtower commissioned by Charles V. Its crystal-clear, peaceful waters remain far from the crowds — and even inspired Lucio Battisti and Mogol, who wrote “Acqua Azzurra, Acqua Chiara” and “La Canzone del Sole” here.
Puglia confirms its position as Italy’s second-ranked region for Blue Flags (27 in total), and Nardò is proudly playing its part. Congratulations to everyone who works every day to protect and enhance our sea and coastline! 🐚
